It’s A New Day, It’s A New Year, And We’re Feeling Good

It’s the start of a new year and instead of reflecting on the year behind us, Ryan and I can’t help but dream of what the year ahead can be. Animals will be added to our homestead, big projects will be achieved, and if we get really lucky, we might just find property to own. Dreaming about the future while keeping warm by the fire is actually how we rang in the New Year. The highlight of the evening was having Ellie comfortably staying by our sides. That girl was a party animal until around 10:00pm. (We kept the festivities rolling New Years day as seen above.)

She has come a long way since this post on her illness taking over all productivity around this house. We still don’t know exactly what was wrong with her just that she was fighting an infection. The feeding tube that was placed through the side of her neck (sounds worse than it was) over a week ago was removed on Wednesday, and as of yesterday, she is bandage-free. All that remains is the craziest haircut she may ever don.

Ellie being at death’s door cut holiday time short, but we were still able to get together with family. We left town with Ellie’s health on an upswing. When it was time to head home, our girl couldn’t be stopped. She was an eating, drinking, playful fool again. The only thing she slowed down for was cuddles with Kearney cat… in a jam-packed truck.

The year has only just begun and we are already feeling blessed. We are cranking away on the gardens using homesteading gifts from Christmas. Our office redo is in full swing. Not to mention, our loyal pup is well again. We’ll see where the road takes us, but I have a feeling 2016 is going to be one for the books.
