streak-free diy window cleaner

I don’t know what it is, but since I was a kid I have always loved cleaning. I can trace being a neat freak back to my need for bed sheets to be wicked straight (my dad was in the Air Force), but the cleaning, I must have developed that on my own.

Nothing strokes my cleaning addiction like a good DIY cleaning product. There is something about scrubbing and spraying to your heart’s desire without feeling like you are breathing in toxic chemicals. With that said, I think it’s time I came clean with you about my new weapon to this cleaning love affair.

DIY window cleaner

1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 Tbsp arrowroot (or cornstarch)
2 cup warm water

Using an empty cleaned out old cleaning bottle, I poured all the ingredients in and gave it a good shake to mix everything together. The rubbing alcohol and vinegar cut through the dirt and grime, while the arrowroot helps keep your views streak-free. It’s a perfect union.

To clean the windows, I use a reusable soft microfiber cloth and clean like you would with a store bought cleaner.

I have noticed only one main difference than the store brands. While wiping the window pane, it gets a little murky before it gets crystal clear and smudge free. I’m thinking it’s just the arrowroot doing it’s job.

I’m loving it. One by one the chemicals in this house are disappearing. While I am here showing you the inside of my cleaning heart, if you haven’t seen my all-time favorite kitchen/multi-purpose thieves cleaner, you gotta check it out. Smells like Christmas and cleans like a machine.
